Kaitlyn Carson began dancing at age eleven, at High Country Conservatory of Dance in Fort Collins, Colorado. Here she trained in ballet, jazz, and clogging. As part of the studio performance team, Kaitlyn traveled throughout the United States, performing in places such as Disneyland. She also participated in a dance team through 4-H. As part of this youth development organization, she performed poms and jazz dances.
In college, she revisited her training in ballet and modern techniques. Kaitlyn holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance with a minor in entrepreneurship and innovation and is interested in working in contemporary and commercial dance settings that value strength, athleticism, and artistic development. During her time at CSU, she performed in over 20 pieces choreographed by students and faculty. Kaitlyn has also choreographed three works and created two-screen dances. In Fall 2018, she served as the student rehearsal assistant for three Salvatore Aiello ballets. She has taken masterclasses from Denise Vale-rehearsal director for Martha Graham Dance Company, Jean-Phulipe Malaty, Executive Director of Aspen Santa Fe Ballet Dance Company, Justus Whitfield-company dancer of Parsons Dance Company, and PUSH Dance Theatre. She has also taught in local elementary schools as well as for the level one ballet and modern courses at CSU through the pedagogy courses.
Kaitlyn teaches Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Contemporary. She has worked as a head instructor at Just for Kix in Windsor, Colorado and a guest teacher and masterclass/community class instructor at many other studios. In addition to teaching, she has been the stage manager and lighting designer for winter and spring recitals at Windsor JFK. She loves spreading dance in all ways possible and for many years led a dance team through 4-H to share her love with movers that weren’t able to take classes in studio settings. Teaching creative movement at CSU, at high schools; modern and ballet pedagogy, team teaching at the University one-hundred level modern and ballet classes.
Reflecting on her dance endeavors, Kaitlyn is so beyond thankful for all of the teachers and mentors that have given her an example to follow and a burning heart for dance.
